Blown Out of Proportion Series

2007

Digital Photographs, C-Prints

Inspired by a not-so-inspirational pornography debate at Simmons College between Ron Jeremy and Susan Cole, which was met with not-so-inspirational extreme protest from the student body, a picture I took of the hedgehog himself sparked a series of images that presents various issues blown out of proportion. Pictures taken by a camera phone, abstract and highly digitized, are further distorted by being enlarged to 30 inches by 22 inches. As camera phones allow more people in our society access to photographic means, the ability to digitally capture events mid-occurrence also increases, with mixed results from the mainstream media. Sometimes the most effective way to show how issues can be blown out of proportion is by blowing the representations out of proportion.

This project is still in process.

With no completion date in mind.
